Wrap Up, Social Networking

YEH! I've finished!
Thankyou to NSWPLN learning 2.0. It has been a wonderful adventure.

I found it hard at first to post to my blog but in the end was quite looking forward to it.

Social Networking would be a good way to promote the library to teenagers who like spending time in front of their computers!

Second Life .....well the idea of being able to "teleport" into a virtual world was a bit scary. It is a language of its own.

Online Aplications and Tools

What a great idea...and its free!

I found Google docs relatively easy to use. I liked that you were able to upload a document you already have on file and then choose whom to share the document.

Learning 2.0 has opened up a whole new world for me in the land of cyberspace!

Mashups

Exciting technology....could have a lot of fun with big huge labs!

Now we can really get creative with our promotional material for the library.

You Tube - Sort of, dunno, nothing

I have three teenage boys..... this video is soooo good.

Podcasts and Audio

I agree with comments made by 'chillipepper' particularly learning modules for those of us in more remote areas.

Answer Boards and Social Searching

I have read comments from the Taste website which I thought was a great idea and very helpful - when there is so much information (or receipes in this instance) it helps to sort the good from the bad.
Also shopping on line - have used the 'customers who bought this item also bought' which I found really helpful.

learningblogs' favorites on del.icio.us

learningblogs' favorites on del.icio.us

Well after this little exercise I am totally brain dead. I had a lot of trouble linking the delicious favourites to my blog....still not sure I have done it correctly. The tags do not show on the blog but can click on the link and it will take me to the tags I have selected. Im guessing there is something I havn't done right.

Could not see the point of technorati for me personally but yes, can see it could be helpful if you wanted people to track your blogs for business purposes.

shelfari and widget

Unfortunately LibraryThing is down for scheduled maintenance...so gave shelfari a try. This looks like a lot of fun and will probably use this site again. Have tagged this site.

mosman library - Google Video

What a great idea for Mosman Library to make a Google video of their visiting speakers. Living in the country we have few oportunities to listen to these kind of speakers. Now I can see and listen to them on Google Video! I was surprised at the length of these videos. Google seems a better site in this regard.
Also enjoyed the advertising video "Now your Library is Open Late night too" and "How long has it been since you last visited the Library?" great ways to promote the library I thought.

I did find it quite easy to post a video but agree with a few comments made - 'it's easy when you know how'....

Wikis

Wow! Wikis are amazing! So much information...

I looked at Book Lovers Wiki - great for book reviews but not sure if it is easy to find a book review for a particular book especially if it is new.

SJCPL Subject Guides Wiki - info on just about any subject that interests you, even local scholarships. I clicked on Gardening and was interested to find new books on shelves listed and gardening tips etc. In the craft subject there was info on knitting web sites and projects with instructions. Only thing is I would spend so much time reading all this information I would never leave the computer to do anything!!

Editing wikis was a bit scary....especially something like your own area wiki..but could see that adding useful info from a reliable source would make for a very informative site.
